The Library and Me. A Long-Term Relationship.

The library knows me by name, which is both flattering and a little exposing. I check out cookbooks, finance texts, travel memoirs, and the occasional novel I pretend is for book club even when book club is just me and Biscuit.

As a teacher I lived in the stacks. As an analyst-in-training I live there again, except now I also borrow audiobooks for trail walks. Multitasking, darling, not madness.

I once kept a book eleven weeks and paid a fine that still haunts me in dreams. Character building. Now I set phone reminders like the responsible eccentric I am becoming.

Support your library. It is the original streaming service with better ethics and nicer chairs.
